April 23, 2012, Pippi goes on television (the ABC7 noon news) to tell Sarasota-Bradenton about the Animal Rescue Coalition Emergency Medical Fund. The EMF was the fund that paid the bill to save Pippi’s life after her injury as a puppy. Pippi and the Hudson Law Office have helped to raise thousands of dollars to support the EMF in the last two years. The EMF pays for emergency surgery and other treatment when an injured animal has a future.

Tom and Pippi are no strangers to the TV studios at ABC 7 in Sarasota.

Tom and Pippi are honored by HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Sarasota

On Friday, April 20, 2012, Pippi and Tom went to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital to be honored for their volunteer work. Tom and Pippi began visiting HealthSouth in June of 2008, after Tom’s mom finished a stay there. The nurses fell in love with Pippi, whose happy personality wasn’t dampened by the challenges she faces because of her missing leg. They wouldn’t let Tom and Pippi stop coming to visit. So now–four years later–Tom and Pippi are regulars at HealthSouth on Saturday afternoons. Tom tells people, “That’s Pippi. She works here.” and shows off Pippi’s employee photo ID badge.

Tom and Pippi were delighted to get accolades--and free breakfast--from HealthSouth.

The Hudson Law Office Building gets a little sprucing-up.

Local Artist Vicki Squires spent part of Easter weekend giving a facelift to the mural on the side of the Hudson Law Office building at the corner of U.S. 41 and Westmoreland Dr. in Sarasota. If you are driving northbound past the airport, you’ll see the vivid colors and the “Swerve” logo of the Hudson Law Office.

On February 18, 2012, the Animal Rescue Coalition held their Annual Gala at Michael’s On East. Pippi was happy to be invited back for the second year in a row, to ask all of the nice people to help the Emergency Medical Fund of ARC. It was the EMF that paid for the surgery that saved Pippi’s life after she was found limping along the street with a dislocated shoulder. Serving on the Board of the Animal Rescue Coalition, and raising money for the Emergency Medical Fund, is one way that the Hudson Law Office shows its commitment to our community.

Tom Hudson and Judge Kevin Ross of "America's Court" having dinner together at Michael's on East.

Judge Kevin Ross, of the syndicated television show “America’s Court,” was in Sarasota this week, promoting the show and Entertainment Studios. Tom was delighted to have dinner with Judge Ross at Michael’s on East, the premiere dining establishment in Sarasota. They traded war stories from their mutual histories as radio hosts and trial lawyers.

Always improving, The Hudson Law Office adds a Certified All-Lines Claims Adjuster!

Claims Manager Jeanna Johnson was recently awarded her All-Lines Adjuster license from the State of Florida.

We haven’t added personnel, but the Hudson Law Office just got one adjuster richer, as Claims Manager Jeanna Johnson completed her course work and became a Certified All-Lines Adjuster licensed by the State of Florida. Jeanna, who has been an important part of the Hudson Law Office since September, 2005, has learned a lot on the job about insurance claims and property and bodily injury insurance. But in the summer of 2011, she decided to get the formal training that would make her the equal of the insurance company adjusters she deals with every day.

It was a hard battle, and Jeanna spent many a lunch hour studying her course materials instead of playing poker with the rest of us in the conference room. But it’s worth it! We are all very proud of her motivation and delighted that her increased expertise will benefit the good people who come to the Hudson Law Office when they are injured by someone else’s negligence.

Tom Hudson Named an Officer of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board

The Manasota Trial Lawyers Board is a local organization composed of some of the foremost trial lawyers in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Membership is obtained through special invitation and is extended only to those attorneys who exemplify superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence, stature, and profile as civil plaintiff or criminal defense trial lawyers.

The Board has grown significantly in the last several years, and is now considered one of the foremost voices in the State of Florida for the attorneys who speak for injured citizens. Tom Hudson has been a member of the MTLB for several years, since shortly after its founding. However, on December 15, 2011, at the quarterly meeting of the MTLB, Tom was asked to become an officer of the organization. He will be serving as secretary of the group and will, with the other officers, be tasked with developing the organizations’s website, listserv and a library of resources for members to battle on behalf of the injured.

Party Like an Animal

Tom and Pippi "Out and About" supporting the Animal Rescue Coalition

Last week, Tom and Pippi attended “Party Like an Animal,” the Grand Opening of the new Animal Rescue Coalition Adoption Center in downtown Sarasota. ARC headquarters were moved over the summer, to provide a storefront close to the action. Now every Saturday, when the Sarasota Farmers Market operates, adoptable kittens will be just a few steps away.

On November 11, 2011, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune published pictures from the event, including a Pippi surprise-attack on Tom’s right ear.

Tom and Pippi are proud and happy to support the work of the Animal Rescue Coalition–especially the ARC Emergency Medical Fund, which is the fund that paid for the surgery that saved Pippi’s life.
